MSI PI Peter Reich, a Regents Professor in the Department of Forest Resources (College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences), is featured in a story about using the University Libraries’ University Digital Conservancy. Professor Reich studies how climate change affects ecosystems, especially those of central North America.
Understanding Bear Hibernation to Advance Human Medicine
The research of MSI PI Paul Iaizzo, a professor in the Department of Surgery and Principal Investigator of the Visible Heart Lab, was featured recently on Twin Cities tv station KMSP-TV. Professor Iaizzo and his team are studying hibernating black bears to try to understand how they can survive several months of complete inactivity without experiencing physical decline. The researchers hope this research will provide insights that will advance human medicine.

Professor David Redish, an MSI PI in the Department of Neuroscience, is featured in an interview on the University of Minnesota Foundation’s website. Professor Redish uses MSI for investigations into the information processing associated with complex decisions. He is also a poet, author, and playwright.
MSI PI David Tilman Named to Royal Society of London
MSI PI David Tilman, a Regents Professor in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior and Director, Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve, has been elected as a foreign member of the prestigious Royal Society of London. The Royal Society was founded in 1660 and is dedicated to promoting excellence in science.
