On Wednesday, February 3, 2016, from 5:00am - 4:00pm CST, MSI Staff will perform scheduled maintenance and upgrades to the network and various systems. During the February 2016 maintenance, MSI’s maintenance will be global and site-wide as we will take the central storage offline to attempt to finalize a file system merge. Additionally, MSI will perform a security point update to the NX server and corresponding clients. Maintenance during this period will impact the following systems:
A new project at the Institute on the Environment, called “Informed water management: Mapping scarcity, threats, and values,” will study Minnesota water supply’s quantity and quality and what risks may affect it in the future. MSI Principal Investigator Tracy Twine (Soil, Water, and Climate) is one of the three co-leads of the project, along with Bonnie Keeler and Kate Brauman.

Associate Professor Peter Snyder (Soil, Water, and Climate), who uses MSI for investigations into climate change, was recently interviewed on Minnesota Public Radio as part of a story about the mild winter of 2015-16 and how it’s affecting the state’s winter sports industry. Fall 2015 was very mild, and was followed by one of the warmest Decembers on record, causing lakes in the region to remain ice-free late into the season.

The School of Dentistry at the University of Minnesota has received two awards recognizing vision and achievement. The ADEAGies Foundation named the Dental School as one of the recipients of the 2016 Gies Award for Outstanding Vision by a Public or Private Partner for efforts to advance dental therapy education. Several MSI Principal Investigators are faculty in the Dental School.
