In a new partnership agreement, NASA will provide funding to the Zooniverse.org teams at the University of Minnesota and the Adler Planetarium in Chicago for two years. Zooniverse is the world’s largest citizen-science platform and was co-founded by MSI PI Lucy Fortson (professor, Physics and Astronomy). A story about this partnership appears on the U of M News website: University of Minnesota Partners With NASA and Chicago’s Adler Planetarium to Advance Citizen Science.
MSI has participated in several projects hosted on Zooniverse, including the Ancient Lives project, which used informatics to translate a collection of ancient papyri; two animal-identification projects from the University of Minnesota Lion Center, Snapshot Serengeti and Snapshot Safari; and the Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve’s animal-identification project, Eyes on the Wild.
