MSI PIs Elected to National Academy of Sciences

Two MSI PIs have been elected to the National Academy of Sciences, one of the highest honors that can be given to a US scientist or engineer.

• Dan Voytas (professor, Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development; Director, Center for Precision Plant Genomics). Professor Voytas’s research focuses on technology development in the arena of genome engineering, with the overarching goal of modifying crops for a growing population and changing climate. The Voytas group uses MSI for high-throughput DNA sequencing.
• Marlene Zuk (professor, Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior). Professor Zuk studies the mating behavior and secondary sexual characteristics of invertebrates in order to understand the behavior, life history, and morphology of animals. The Zuk lab is currently using MSI resources to study the differences in parasitism in field crickets in various environments.
