Project Title:
Genome Engineering
The Voytas lab focuses on technology development in the arena of genome engineering. They are interested in approaches to make targeted modifications to DNA or chromatin more accurate, efficient, and generally easier. The overarching goal of this research is to modify crop plants to meet the needs of a growing population and changing climate and plant habitat.
The technologies the group develops and utilizes require precise knowledge of the kind and frequency of DNA modifying events that they induce. Typically, this requires high-throughput DNA sequencing, for which they sometimes need the processing power and storage capabilities of MSI.
