Two MSI PIs, David Pui (Mechanical Engineering) and Marlene Zuk (Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior), have been named Regents Professors, the University’s highest level of faculty recognition.
Regents Professor Pui is the head of two labs, the Center for Filtration Research and the Particle Technology Laboratory. The Center for Filtration Research studies air and water filtration to mitigate airborne and liquid-borne pollutants. The Particle Technology Laboratory specializes in small-particle research and is known for instrumentation development. Both labs use MSI resources for numerical modeling. Research by the Pui group was featured on the MSI website in August 2018: Modeling an Air-Pollution Filtration System.
Regents Professor Zuk uses MSI resources for mass-spectrographic studies of cuticular hydrocarbons found in field crickets.
An article about all the new Regents Professors can be found on the University’s News site: Three New Regents Professors Named at the U of M.
