Two University of Minnesota faculty members, both MSI PIs, have been named 2018 Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). They will be honored at the spring meeting of the AAAS on February 2019.
The new Fellows are:
- Carol Ishimaru (professor, Plant Pathology). Professor Ishimaru uses MSI resources to support research using a combination of DNA sequencing approaches to study diversity within bacterial plant pathogens that impact Minnesota crops.
- Natalia Tretyakova (professor, Medicinal Chemistry). Professor Tretyakova is using MSI for -omics research for a variety of projects seeking to understand epigenetic regulation in cells, possible protective agents against myocardial infarction, and the relationship between inflammation and lung cancer development.
An article about both researchers appears on the University of Minnesota News website: The University of Minnesota and AAAS Announce 2018 Fellows.
