Using Apps to Help Teens Fight Mental Illness

Medicine

MSI PI Sophia Vinogradov (professor and head, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences) is part of a research study at the U that is developing apps that are designed to help teenagers and young adults deal with the onset of psychosis. The goal is to be able to identify the start of psychosis so that treatment can begin as soon as possible. This study is one of many that seeks to deal with mental illness without drugs. A story about this research appears in the Minneapolis StarTribune: University of Minnesota Tests New Apps to Help Teen Brains Fight Psychosis.

Professor Vinogradov uses MSI for MRI and EEG studies of brain structure and function in order to develop models of patient health and treatments.
