NSF CAREER Grant for Elliott

Assistant Professor Ryan S. Elliott (Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics) was recently awarded prestigious NSF CAREER grant partly based on his research using MSI resources. Professor Elliott's MSI research concerns the fundamental understanding of solid-sold Martensitic phase transformations (where the atoms comprising the crystalline material undergo a coordinated rearrangement at the nanoscale), which may provide the ability to search for and discover totally new materials that would not be possible as single-phase materials.
