MSI PIs Receive 2023-24 Distinguished Teaching Awards

The University of Minnesota annually recognizes faculty members for their outstanding contributions to teaching and learning. Three MSI PIs have received awards for 2023-24.

Horace T. Morse – University of Minnesota Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education

  • William Pomerantz (professor, Chemistry)
    • Professor Pomerantz uses MSI for projects that analyze and develop small molecular protein-protein interaction inhibitors.

Award for Outstanding Contributions to Graduate and Professional Education

  • Chad Myers (professor, Computer Science and Engineering; Masonic Cancer Center)
    • Professor Myers is using MSI resources to generate and analyze genetic and chemical-genetic interaction network data from a variety of species, and for several projects that are analyzing human genetic variants to discover disease associations.
  • James Van de Ven (professor, Mechanical Engineering)
    • Professor Van de Ven uses computational resources at MSI for fluid dynamics of fluid flow through various geometries and for finite element analysis of mechanical components in hydraulic components.
