MSI PIs Receive 2022-24 McKnight Land-Grant Professorships

Four MSI PIs are among the ten faculty members who have been named as the 2022-24 McKnight Land-Grant Professors. Recipients hold the designation “McKnight Land-Grant Professor” for two years. The goal of the program is to advance the careers of assistant professors at a crucial point in their professional lives.

The MSI PIs who have been honored with this award are:

  • Xue Feng (Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering)
    • Professor Feng uses MSI for studies aimed at understanding the stochastic dynamics of ecohydrological systems and their sensitivities to environmental fluctuations, especially those arising from precipitation.
  • Patrick Kelly (Physics and Astronomy)
    • Professor Kelly uses MSI resources to carry out high-resolution simulations of the microlensing of individual stars at cosmological distances, using data from the Hubble Space Telescope.
  • Noelle Noyes (Veterinary Population Medicine)
    • Professor Noyes uses MSI resources for several projects that use metagenomics to study antimicrobial resistance, a plex ecological and population genetic phenomenon of microbes, with potentially dire consequences for human and animal health.
  • Xavier Revelo (Integrative Biology and Physiology)
    • Professor Revelo uses MSI resources as part of investigations into novel immune mechanisms underlying inflammation in cardio-metabolic diseases such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and heart failure.

A list of all the recipients and descriptions of their research can be found on the Scholars Walk website.
