Two MSI PIs, Elizabeth Borer (professor, Ecology, Evolution and Behavior) and Nathan Springer (professor, Plant and Microbial Biology), have been named Fellows by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). This award honors members of the AAAS who have distinguished themselves in their work to advance science or its applications. Professor Borer uses MSI to support research into the causes and consequences of the diversity of fungi, bacteria, and viruses, with a particular focus on climate change. Professor Springer uses MSI for genomic and epigenomic studies of maize.
