MSI PIs Co-Leaders for New Cancer Research Grant

Medicine

MSI PIs David Odde and David Largaespada are co-leaders for a $8.2M grant from the National Cancer Institute to develop a method to predict how cancer cells spread. The third co-leader, Steven Rosenfeld, is from the Cleveland Clinic. The grant funds a collaboration between the University of Minnesota, the Cleveland Clinic, and the Mayo Clinic.

Professor Odde is a faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and is a researcher at the Masonic Cancer Center. He uses MSI for computer modeling of basic cellular processes, such as cell division, polarization, and migration. Professor Largaespada is on the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics and is Associate Director for Basic Science at the Masonic Cancer Center. His group uses MSI to support their studies of insertional mutagenesis for cancer gene discovery and mouse functional genomics.

An article about this grant appears on the University of Minnesota News page.
