MSI PI Linda Kinkel Awarded Grant to Study Plant Microbes

Biology

MSI PI Linda Kinkel (Plant Pathology) has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation that will lead to the creation of the Agricultural Microbiomes Project (MP). This project will develop a global network of researchers studying plant microbiomes and their relationships to plant productivity and sustainable crop production. An article about the grant and the AMP appears on the University of Minnesota News website: CFANS professor receives NSF grant to support microbiome research network.

Professor Kinkel’s MSI research group uses MSI resources for high-throughput amplicon sequencing data of soil fungi and bacteria to study the dynamics and functions of the soil microbial community related to plant disease.
