MSI PI John Bischof, a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been named to be Interim Director of the Institute for Engineering in Medicine (IEM). Professor Bischof has been associate director of the Institute and is also a member of the Masonic Cancer Center.
Professor Bischof and his Bioheat and Mass Transfer Lab are currently using MSI resources to study the use of nanoparticles to enhance thermal therapies.
The outgoing IEM Director, Professor Bin He (Biomedical Engineering), is also an MSI PI. He uses MSI resources to support projects focusing on functional imaging of biological systems, as well as a variety of other topics in neuroengineering. Professor He is leaving the University of Minnesota in December 2017 to go to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.
