MSI PI Catherine French Named Distinguished Member of ASCE

MSI PI Catherine French (professor, Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering) has been named a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the highest honor given by that group. Professor French uses MSI for computational modeling in a number of structural-engineering projects using reinforced and prestressed concrete. Recent projects have included investigating the distribution of shear forces in prestressed concrete bridges; investigating the interaction between rocking wall systems and surrounding structural systems in buildings; and designing prestressed concrete bridge girders to avoid end cracking.
