MSI Principal Investigator Mike Smanski, an associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry, is featured in the Winter 2016 issue of Minnesota Alumni magazine. Professor Smanski studies microbial genomes to discover genes and pathways that might lead the way to new drugs. Members of MSI’s Research Informatics Solutions group are assisting the Smanski group with their genomics and bioinformatics work related to this research.
