The Food Protection and Defense Institute (FPDI) recently received a $1 million grant to use “big data” and predictive analytics to identify disease outbreaks and improve health-care supply chains. The grant is from the Paul G. Allen Ebola Program.
The FPDI has been studying food supply chains and factors that affect them. MSI has worked with them to develop tools to track and analyze data from these supply chains. (See Research Spotlight, September 25, 2013, and MSI FPDI Case Study for more about this work.) Health care systems have similar distribution chains.
