MSI PI Reuben Harris (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics; Masonic Cancer Center; Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator) and his colleagues reported recently that they have discovered an enzyme, APOBEC3H-I, that is most likely the cause of previously unexplained mutations in breast cancer cells. The enzyme is also implicated in other forms of cancer. The article appeared in the journal Nature Communications. An article about this research appears on the University News website.
