Finding Genetic Markers for Diabetes

Genetics

Two MSI PIs from the School of Public Health (SPH), Professors Baolin Wu (Biostatistics) and Jim Pankow (Epidemiology and Community Health), are leading a project that will seek to identify which parts of the human genetic code are associated with diabetes. This will help researchers develop personalized treatment for the disease. The research, which has received grants totaling nearly $2 million, is funded by the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation. A story about this research appears on the SPH website: Discovering the Genetic Source of Diabetes.

Both Professor Wu and Professor Pankow use MSI resources for their studies of genetic markers for various diseases.
