Fighting Fentanyl Overdose

Medicine

MSI PI Marco Pravetoni (associate professor, Pharmacology) and his colleagues are developing antibody-based methods to fight against fentanyl overdose. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid associated with deaths worldwide. The multi-institutional team has received a $2.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to help with this research. A story about the grant appears on the Medical School news website: $2.4M Will Support Novel Opioid Research at the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Professor Pravetoni uses MSI resources for a number of projects to develop novel immunization approaches that guide B and T cell lymphocytes toward the generation of effective antibody responses.
