Developing a SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Test

COVID-19

Researchers at the University of Minnesota and the Mayo Clinic are developing tests that can be used to determine whether someone has been previously infected with SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that caused COVID-19. Having this test would help determine whether the population has achieved herd immunity.

MSI PI Marc Jenkins (professor, Microbiology and Immunology; Director, Center for Immunology) was featured in a story on tv station KARE-11 that discusses the work that’s being done to develop an antibody test for COVID-19. The story, with video, can be found on the station’s website: Minnesota researchers developing COVID-19 antibody test.

Professor Jenkins uses MSI to study CD4+ T cells and their role in the adaptive immune response.
