MSI PI Graham Candler (professor, Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics) has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering. This is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to an engineer. This year’s honorees will be inducted into the Academy at their annual meeting in October. An article about this award and Professor Candler’s research appears on the College of Science and Engineering website: University of Minnesota Professor Graham Candler Elected to National Academy of Engineering.
Professor Candler is a long-time PI at MSI. His research group uses MSI’s supercomputers for powerful simulations that show the transition from smooth laminar airflow to turbulent airflow; this information is necessary to developing aircraft capable of hypersonic flight.
