Bell Museum’s Dioramas Moving to New Location in St. Paul

Biology

The Bell Museum of Natural History has begun the process of moving its famous dioramas to its new location on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. A story about the move appears on the Fox 9 website: Bell Museum carefully moves from Minneapolis to St. Paul.

The museum’s Interim Science Director, Professor George Weiblen, is an MSI PI. Professor Weiblen, a faculty member in the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology in the College of Biological Sciences, uses MSI resources for phylogenetic analyses of plants using next-generation sequencing data. His research group has also begun a genomic study of Cannibis sativa.

MSI staff provided programming support for the museum’s Minnesota Biodiversity Atlas, an online, searchable database for the museum’s extensive collections. The Atlas went live in May 2016. You can read about this project on the MSI website: Case Study – Bell Museum Biodiversity Atlas.
