Dr. Sebastian Behrens

This lab focuses on biological remediation using biochar to enhance removal of heavy metals and sulfate, and to propel electron shuttling and denitrification. Additionally, they characterize the wastewater treatment process to understand how the seasons change the microbiological community. Finally, the researchers are pushing microfluidics and single-cell techniques to further understand and characterize these biological remediation systems.
