Project Title:
Microbiota Therapeutics Program
This group has multiple projects. The dominant focus is the pharmacology of live biotherapeutics, which includes the pharmacokinetics of these preparations in different diseases. Pharmacokinetics tracks the fate of the administered microbiota in the recipient using stool samples and gut biopsies. In pharmacodynamics elements of these studies, the researchers use shotgun metagenomics to help to elucidate the mechanisms of these products and their effects on the body.
