Project Title:
Testing A Particle Filter for Studying Bradykinesia Dynamics in Parkinson's Disease; MOPSO Algorithm for DBS and Parkinson's Gait

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) in the STN is known to treat motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, but there is evidence that different regions and pathways within and adjacent to the STN treat different motor symptoms. In this project, the researchers construct subject-specific computational models and use the Multi Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) algorithm to find stimulation settings that selectively target pallido-peduncular and pedunculo-pallidal pathways that are implicated In the Parkinsonian gait. This project is in collaboration with Professor Matthew Johnson's research group.
