Project Title:
Advanced Multiscale and Multiphysics Simulation Methods in Computational Mechanics
The overarching goal of this research is to develop novel effective computational modeling and simulation technologies that can help find new answers to important engineering questions in science, industry, medicine, and society. Current research interests can be structured into the following three research lines:
- Physics-based computational multiscale modeling of materials, structures and fluids
- Integrating computer-aided design and simulation methods for multiphysics-based design, with emphasis on the prediction of instabilities in aerodynamic structures
- Developing imaging-through-analysis tools for autonomous patient-specific simulation workflows, focusing on liver perfusion and bone strength prediction
The research efforts in the three lines are closely interlinked, thus profiting from significant cross-fertilization, while enabling the research program to flexibly contribute computational solutions to a variety of areas. The computing resources provided by MSI play a fundamental role in all research areas.
