Project Title:
Analysis and Compilation of Cuticular Hydrocarbons From Field Crickets
Field crickets in some regions of the world are subject to parasitism by the fly Ormia ochracea. The Pacific field cricket, Teleogryllus oceanicus, serves as a host in Hawaii but not elsewhere in its range. This study compares mass spectrographic profiles of cuticular hydrocarbons to determine how tradeoffs between sexual attractiveness and desiccation resistance vary when the fly is and is not present.
