This research group currently works on the fabrication and characterization of novel sensors using nanoporous polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) film for biomedical applications. The preliminary results from experiments have demonstrated the strong capacity of the sensor. In addition to the experimental study, the researchers are developing a numerical model using FEA to predict the sensing behavior, which has not been explored. Together with the experimental results, the optimal design factors of the sensor will be determined, such as the porosity, modulus, thickness, strength, sensitivity, etc. The outcomes of this study will promote the scientific and technological development of the nanoporous PVDF thin film sensor in the medical field.
