Project Title:
Ecology of Red-headed Woodpeckers and Other Birds of Conservation Concern
This research group studies the ecology of wild bird populations, including movement ecology, habitat use, response to anthropogenic activities, and genetics. They are currently focused on movement ecology of red-headed woodpeckers and Interior Population trumpeter swans in the Upper Midwest, and the genomics of trumpeter swans related to founder populations used in re-introduction. Other current projects include evaluation of the response of marshbirds to management of the upland matrix in which wetlands are imbedded, and exposure risk of grassland wildlife to agricultural insecticides applied to crops in an agricultural landscape.
