Project Title:
Pennycress Domestication and Oilseed Composition
Pennycress is a novel oilseed crop species being developed for overwinter planting as part of the Forever Green Initiative. Oil composition is important for end-use applications; current lines are best suited for industrial applications. Extensive genomics work is being conducted in order to identify breeding targets that will make the oil suitable for human consumption, as well as for other desirable traits.
This group's research was featured on the MSI website in October 2019: Domesticating Pennycress.
Professor Wyse passed away on July 2, 2024. The staff of MSI extend their deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
