Dr. Douglas Mashek

A major research emphasis of this laboratory is on lipid droplet biology and its relationship to metabolic diseases. Although a primary focus is on non-alcholic fatty liver disease, the researchers have numerous ongoing projects that link altered lipid droplet metabolism to type 2 diabetes, obesity, healthspan, and cancer. They are also very interested on defining how diet contributes to these effects.
