Project Title:
Genetic Variations of Rust Fungi Through Sequencing
The main objective of this project is to genetically characterize rust fungi through genetics/genomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics. Whole genome sequencing and RNA-seq of several isolates of rust fungi are needed. These researchers have started sequencing and assembling for some of the isolates, but many more genomes will be sequenced and assembled during 2024. The group will also use several bioinformatics tools to develop both genomic and transcriptomic assemblies. In addition to SNP identification, gene and protein predictions will be conducted.
