This research group is exploring some of the fundamental (theoretical) aspects of deep learning and neural networks. For this, they often run simulations to compare analytical results with what is provided by conventional (gradient descent based) methods. This work benefits from being able to parallelize these computations a bit by running on multiple CPUs or GPU resources.
