Project Title:
HIV Transmission, Vaccine, and Cure
This group's research interests include:
- Understanding the mechanisms of HIV-1 sexual transmission to women by using the rhesus macaque-SIV model and seeking the critical steps for strategies to prevent mucosal transmission
- Understanding the correlations of protection mediated by SIVdel-nef vaccine in order to guide the design of HIV vaccine, currently focusing on the induction of mucosal Ab responses in the female genital tract
- Understanding the nature of HIV-1 latency and reservoirs in ART-treated individuals and seeking strategies to eliminate virus reservoirs to reach ultimate cure of HIV (or functional cure - prevent virus recrudescence)
